Getting To Know Libra Nine

Founded in 2023 by Megan Johnstone, Libra Nine is a Carlisle-based SEO marketing agency. Established to serve clients across the UK, they specialise in content marketing, digital PR, and technical, local and on-page SEO.

At LS Media and Marketing, we’ve worked with Megan since 2023, providing collaborative support to our clients in various areas of digital marketing.

Libra Nine’s Vision

Libra Nine had developed their initial branding and website in-house. But they felt that their existing colour palette and identity misaligned with the values the agency was built on – sustainable growth and holistic development. Megan’s goal was to achieve a brand that was editorial, clean, modern and sleek, upheld by her Libra scales as a representation of balance.

For a website builder, Libra Nine originally settled for Wix. However, they wanted to move across to a CMS that offered more possibilities for customisation and scalability. With user-friendliness in mind, Megan made the strategic decision to transition to WordPress.

Given her expertise in SEO, Megan could provide the content for the new website. But she needed assistance in the technical implementation and design.

Phase 1; Brand Research & Rebrand

At first, we turned our attention to Libra Nine’s branding. We asked Megan to outline her vision for the business and worked to develop four new black and white ideas for a logo that embodied her values of balance, modernity and sophistication. We utilised the Libra scales in three of the logo options, and opted for a wild card for the fourth. We also researched font choices that would compliment the new brand. After combining some of the elements from each logo option, Megan chose two that she really liked.

Next, we focused on developing the colour palette. Libra Nine’s original palette consisted of bright purple and green. Megan loved both of these colours, and was keen to keep them in her branding. Drawing inspiration from the concept of balance, we mutually decided on a muted version of the original combination.

We revised Libra Nine’s new logo to incorporate the chosen colours, and provided Meg with a full logo stack. This stack comprised file versions of her logo and favicon, in a variety of final colour combinations.

Phase 1 Activities Included;

  • Design of four varied logo options aligned with Libra Nine’s core value of balance. Megan chose two options for her new brand.
  • Formation of a colour palette, retaining Libra Nine’s original bright purple and green hues. We opted for a muted version inspired by the editorial concept.
  • Revision of Libra Nine’s new logo to include the selected colours.
  • Creation of a comprehensive logo stack for Libra Nine’s new brand.

Phase 2 – Website Design

Now we had developed Libra Nine’s new brand, it was time to turn our attention to the agency’s website. With an editorial vision in mind, we asked Megan to provide us with a few websites that she liked. This would help us grasp the aesthetic Megan was looking for.

Libra Nine’s website was originally built on Wix. However, Megan wanted to transition to WordPress. Due to time constraints, we used a Divi theme as the basis of our build. Given that Megan will manage the website internally, this would also eliminate the need for coding.

With her expertise in SEO and copywriting, Megan provided the content for Libra Nine’s new website so that we could wholly focus on the design. We started with the homepage, sending it across to Megan for review. Megan loved it, and signed it off on the same day! We continued to build the remaining pages, making sure that we reflected Libra Nine’s brand values throughout. With minimal tweaks from Megan, the website was built and made live in just over one month.

Initial Phase 2 Activities Included;

  • The movement of Libra Nine’s existing website from Wix to WordPress. We utilised a Divi theme to accommodate tight deadlines and facilitate internal management by Megan.
  • Initial design of a website homepage for review. This gave Megan an idea of our vision for Libra Nine’s new website.
  • Constant collaboration with Megan on Libra Nine’s website. We sent over pages for review, and quickly made minimal tweaks based on her feedback.

Libra Nine’s Results

At the end of April 2024, we published Libra Nine’s new website and Megan debuted her new branding. Since the launch, client feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The combination has strengthened Libra Nine’s overall brand identity, resulting in increased credibility and professionalism.

With balance at the forefront of Libra Nine’s refreshed, editorial trademark, we met all of Megan’s goals. Now, we’re excited to see what they achieve next!
